As an administrative leader, my leadership philosophy is like my teaching philosophy. It incorporates five key areas; First, I believe the use of data is vital in setting high learning goals and developing plans for improving student learning. Not only must I have data, but I must dive deep into the analysis of data. Data is only as good as your understanding. Second, as a supervisor I have deep knowledge and understanding of curriculum, instruction, and assessment and have seen improvement in student learning over the past 5 years I have been Assistant Principal.
Next, staff development is crucial to a Professional Learning Community (PLC) and building teacher capacity. Our school vision and mission are shared with all staff in the building and are modeled by me. Additionally, the use of resources (fiscal, human, materials, etc.) is another area used to narrow the achievement gap for our students. Managing my time, staff, on-line learning sites and hybrid learning are strengths. Finally, my personal leadership fosters a culture of excellence through servant leadership and building relationships. This is an area of strength for me personally and professionally. I am passionate about making all members of the school community feel safe and welcome. I have embraced “Knowing Our Students Well”. To me, school is home away from home.
As a professional leader, I have achieved many initiatives to improve student learning, build a culture of respect and fairness, and build a community of care and support for our students, families, and staff. My loyalty, integrity, fairness, and honesty afford me the mutual respect I give to others.
